oww just got a vitamix delivered today from ebay so i had to check it out!
I'm going to start doing a green smoothie everday
as the healing properties of that alone are meant to be stunning and as they are so nutrient dense help to combat all our annoying cravings and addictions! managed to convince my step mum an bro to partake too!
We had
a big bunch of spinach
a dash of water
2 bananas
2 apples
Then figured i'd make it look nice with a rose petal, blackberry and parsley leaf on each.. they were so nice though!

Omg Joe, I'm jealous! How much did it cost on e-bay?
I am struggling with my blender at the moment. Am having to replace the jug/blade more and more frequently. Contemplating digging out my savings and going for the vitamix.
I'd love to do a green smoothie feast - perhaps have a week or so on them alone.

it was £230 in the end, went up masivly at the end.
Problem with ebay is english ones don't come often and to use an american one you'd need a massive wattage transformer.
I think its worth it, they come out so smooth.
Yeah i was considering doing a green smoothie fast.
Do you have any recipes for them?
Was going to try spinach dandelion and strawberries tomorrow hope its a good combo! |

There's one on e-bay now. I'm going to bid!! Never done this before. Not quite sure what I'm doing.
As for recipes, I tend to put in a couple of handfuls of greens then add bananas, apples, strawberries or grapes. More exotic fruit - pineapple, mangoes etc I prefer to eat as they are. I bought 10k of goji berries from Shazzie a few months ago at a good price, so am working my way through those. A handful or so a smoothie. Then whichever superfoods take my fancy. Go through phases of using maca, mesquite, purple corn, lucuma then I go off them and can't look at them for a while.
Dandelion's bitter - I tend to use extra gojis and mesquite to countertact this.
Happy smoothie-making. Oh and any tips on e-bay would be appreciated.

best tip i can give you is don't bid till literally the last minute, 30 seconds if your internet speed is fast as if you bid ealier all your doing is pushing the price up unecessarily.
Only problem with this is that people will put a maximum price on but only the minimum price (i.e. the one that beast the previous bid) will be displayed.
For instance it could say £150 when the person has put a £200 bid so if you just put £180 you'll instantly be outbid by the other person.
Therefore its best to think of the top price your willing to pay and wack it down in the last few seconds. That way if its over your budget no worries and if its under no one has time to respond and hey presto you win!
Hope it works out for you
Love

Didn't get it
Feeling a bit dejected. Went for £280 which was really too much for me to compete with at this point in time. Was a commercial machine that had had a couple of years' use in a juice bar. Never mind. My l'Equip blender still has a little bit of life in it. Have had a couple of litres of gs today.

Taken from wheatgrass.biz (who apparently got it from www.rawfamily.com)
* 2 large mangos, 1 bunch parsley, water
* 6 peaches, 2 handfuls spinach leaves, water
* 2 mangos, 1 handful wild weeds (e.g. lambs quarters, stinging nettles, purslane), water
* 1 cup strawberries, 2 bananas, 1/2 bunch romaine lettuce, water
* 4 apples, 1/2 lemon juiced, 4-5 leaves kale, water
* 4 very ripe kiwis, 1 ripe banana, 3 stalks celery, water
* 4 ripe pears, 4-5 leaves kale, 1/2 bunch mint, water
* 10 finger-bananas, 2 handfuls of spinach leaves, water
* 3 bosch pears, 1 handful raspberries, 4-5 leaves kale, water
* 1 small pineapple, 1 large mango, 1/2 head romaine lettuce, 1-inch fresh ginger
Raw Family's favorite Green Smoothie:

Taken from the forum on www.sunfood.com
* Pineapple and rocket
* 2/3 bananas
1 apple
handful/whatever amount you want of spinach or sorrel
1 or 2 tablespoons coconut oil
little bit of maca powder
squeeze of lemon juice
enough water to make it, well not too thick, not too thin.
* 1 bunch kale or collards or 3 romaine hearts(very mild) or spinach or lots o' lambsquarters (also very mild) or 2-3 bunches parsley or cilantro
2-3 mangos
2-4 bananas
1/4-1/2 lemon, pitted and peeled (you can use the peel if it's organic)-optional
1 chunk ginger root or 1 hot chili-optional
2-4 Tbs soaked golden flaxseed-optional
stevia to taste - I add this so I don't have to use a lot of fruit to make it sweet
this recipe is for almost a gallon, I process two batches
the greater the amount of water, the less the overpowering taste of the greens
and the flaxseed will act as a thickener when you use alot of water
Really ripe sweet pears are also really good using romaine lettuce.
Apple cilantro is a nice blend, too.
Sometimes I mix the parsley or cilantro with other greens for added flavor.
I'm trying to cut down on bananas, so I've been using more stevia (for sweetness) and more soaked flax (for creaminess).
There are more on http://www.sunfood.com/cgi-bin/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000693;p=
but hopefully these should inspire enough =P |
